Poetry
I have created this site to help promote my book.."Evidence of You" and the books of all my poet friends. It is my hope that by doing do this I can encourage others to write, to hope, to believe in themselves. Everyone has a dream, and every soul should pursue their dreams. Life is quick and fleeting and every minute should be lived and cherished as if there will be no other, because someday, for each of us, there will not be another.
Writing poetry has been a hobby of mine for over 30 years. While I am not a classical poet, or skilled in all the poetic forms that are studied and taught in classrooms the world over, I do believe that the free verse I write is every bit as poetic as any of the classics. You will not find anything in my work that will make you say.."That is the most poetic thought", or "I have never read anyone put metaphors and meter into such perfect alignment before!" that is not how I write. What you will find is poetry that will make you say.."I can relate to that" or "Been there, done that." I am a very easy to understand writer, and I like it that way. Poetry should be read and understood by everyday folks, not just scholars. That is my goal, to be able to touch everyone.
I write mostly about relationships. You'll find the odd one here and there about nature or some event that stuck in my mind, but the vast majority will deal with love in all it's faces, be it sensuous, or be it heartbreaking. I write mostly from my own life experiences, seen through my eyes. I've had my heart broken, and I've broken my share. I am just human, and I try to capture those moments as honestly as possible, but of course I do add onto them like any fisherman does when telling tales of his day at the lake. I hope you find something in my work, and the works of other poets that drop in here that leave you feeling better for having stopped in.
