How I became a photographer

A Family business?

All the way back to when I was a kid, I would have to say around 6 or 7. My family and I went to my grandmother’s house to celebrate Christmas. That night I was handed a small box with my name on it. Being on 7ish I was excited and ripped the paper off just as fast as I could. Inside was a box with a small outdoor only disposable camara. Now mind you this is before digital photography. So yes, it was a 35mm film Camara (I’m showing my age now). I was so excited I could not wait to start taking photos. I pulled the camara out and started to take photos of everything I could. Mind that at this time there were only about 24 photos. I tried everything to get the best photo. I was everywhere in the house taking photos of the tree, My brothers, The dog, My grandparents. I used up the hole role of film in less than an hour. The next day I gave the camara to my mom and we headed down to the local 1-hour photo. When I got my photos back, I was Devastated. Not 1 photo came out. I had one photo that had a slight image of a red tree ornament. And oddly enough I had that photo up till I lost it in a house fire back in 2022. Even though not one photo came out I loved the feeling of taking photos.

Later on, around my birthday my grandmother gave me her old 35mm point and shoot camera and some old film that she wasn’t using. I started taking photos all the time. I had a camara in my hand almost 24/7. Latter as I got older and into Highschool I took photography class. Started to develop film and looking into natural light photography.  I was   photo bug bit me at 7ish and started to develop (pun intended) my photo skills as I grew up. Just think that one disposable outdoor camara and my grandmother helped me get my start.  In 2019 I started Evidence of You Photography llc. Just before Covid. And loving every bit of it
